Going organic? Let me know what you think in the comments and please share this with your friends!
Hi! It's Paul Dysinger here and if you love gardening then you're my friend. :) I live with my amazing family on a little organic farm in TN where we've been serving the community for over 14 years with fresh fruits, veggies, herbs and berries. So, if you love growing robust veggies that burst in your mouth with flavor (or want to learn how without using all that chemical stuff) then you've come to the right place. Enjoy!

June 8, 2015We grow organically and I preserve as much of it as I can. We only purchase organic when we can afford it, but often my grains and seeds ( sunflower, flax and chia) are organic by default because of the company where I like to get them, which has prices lower or competitive to other places.

June 9, 2015Organic is available through our local farmer’s markets. I find the bulk grains, etc. from Country Life Natural Foods ( division of Oak Haven ) in Pullman, MI ( countrylifenaturalfoods.org ) has a good selection. Something Better Natural Foods in Battle Creek, MI
( somethingbetternaturalfoods.com ) carries much of the same stock and both deliver to stores and groups over the eastern area. Both Kroger and Walmart are carrying some organic items but I find the produce is not as fresh as you can get through the weekly local farmer’s markets.
“Organic” animal products ( meat, eggs, dairy, cheese ) are still subject to viruses, hormones, cancer. Most studies I have seen do not indicate much difference between “organic” and non-organic animal products. Plant based is still the best way to go.

June 12, 2015This video is not only interesting, but also compelling. I can’t imagine anyone wants all those pesticides in their bodies or in the bodies of their loved ones. Also it is hopeful to see how quickly the pesticides etc. can be gotten rid of.
Living with fresh and wholesome organic food makes sense in so many ways as well as tasting better and making you feel so much better.

June 12, 2015Amen! Totally agree Lynda. Isn’t it amazing how quickly they saw a difference? Organic is definitely the way to go.

June 16, 2015How long did the family eat this way to remove the pesticides from their bodies?
Paul
June 22, 2015Hi Yuki! Two weeks I believe is what they said. Amazing eh?!

June 23, 2015This study really shows that pesticides don’t stay in the body very long. Plants have hundreds of different naturally occurring pesticides that body has to deal with and get rid of as well. The study clearly stated that there is no evidence that the pesticides that were found in the urine were harmful to the people. The harm of the pesticides happens when farmworkers are exposed to high doses when they apply it in the fields that I believe is the main reason we should avoid them. The pesticides can also harm and kill beneficial insects such as pollinators and predators.

March 3, 2016Yes there are definitely different reasons to stay away from the pesticides!

February 10, 2016Great video revealing the simple reasons why the government needs to promote and put research money behind organic farming methods. It is corruption, wickedness in high places that would allow a system of farming that clearly hurts the people and it’s environment through the use of highly toxic chemicals. The government is supposed to be neutral serving what is right. Then, at the very least, put equal money into both systems of farming, organic and chemical, and may the best system win.
Paul
March 3, 2016Yes, it would definitely be nice if the government did that. Unfortunately that isn’t the reality today, but together we can make a difference and one day things may change. It is already changing slowly but surely!
