I enjoyed this video so much! Didn’t know that there were so many varieties of beets or that they were so nutritious. Can’t wait to roast some for my family! And Paul, you found a real “keeper”! Your wife is adorable!
I really enjoyed the video very much and I’m encouraged to grow the different types of beets next year. The different colors looked wonderful. This year I planted the beets later and found them much sweeter. I guess that’s why my husband likes eating them now. I still have some in storage and look forward to roasting or baking them. Thanks again!
Wonderful Erika! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. We’ll be sharing a new video like this featuring different foods from the garden each month so that’s something to look forward to for sure. And it’s so exciting that it inspired you to grow some different kinds next year. I’m sure you’ll really enjoy it. The different colors really are so much fun – and beautiful!.
Great video, as a child growing up and eating beets it was def on my hate list, i have since realized it was probably because they were always canned beets…i first tasted some roasted beets at a dinner party and could not believe the difference in taste, i truly wondered could these delicious things really be beets…since then i have wondered if anyone had a recipe that i could try..knowing how good they are for us, i wanted to start incorporating them in our diet…now i have a recipe, and saw it from start to finish, which is what i was looking for, thank you so much, it was clear and i will be growing my own in the near future…and also now have the courage to try the different types too…
So glad you enjoyed it, Jasmene! And yes, definitely try different kinds. They have slightly different flavors as well as the beautiful colors. Well worth it!
Thanks for video. This past Fall I was overwhelm with beets. I ended up dehydrating some of them, then ground them to a powder in my Vitamix. Makes a wonderful addition to smoothies!
I, too, was a child who couldn’t choke down a beet — except for Harvard Beets which are pickled beet sticks sold in jars at the supermaket. I raised 5 kids (and a husband :-), and they never had beets served to them. Somehow, each of them have discovered on their own how delicious beets are. Though I do eat beets now, my favorite part of the beet is the leaves which are much like Spinich but more nutritious. Pick the mosr beautiful beet leaves for this: I carefully clean each beet leaf in water with white vinegar and steam them — DELICIOUS SERVED WITH A LITTLE LEMON. (remember white vinegar is just for household cleaning — Apple Cider Vinegar is best for salads and aiding digestion). Thanks Natasha for the great demonstration.
